SUMMARY:49th Annual Girdwood Forest Fair
DESCRIPTION:Alaskan artists\, exotic foods and entertainers from all over Alaska!\nFeaturing Alaskan artists\, exotic foods and entertainers from all over Alaska! \nThe Girdwood Forest Fair is a family fair that has become an annual event in the resort town of Girdwood\, Alaska located 36 miles south of Anchorage.  The Forest Fair features Alaskan artists\, hand-crafted items\, exotic foods and entertainers from all over Alaska. \nThe fairgrounds are located at Mile 2.2 on the Alyeska Highway in the community park area.  Limited parking is available at the Alyeska Resort Daylodge with Shuttle service provided.  Car pooling is encouraged! \nThere is no admission fee\, only good times! Be sure to purchase a limited edition Girdwood Forest Fair T-Shirt “The Cover Charge that Covers Your Back”! \nCamping will be allowed in Forest Fair Campgrounds only – Camping permit required.  Public Camping is prohibited in the town of Girdwood during Forest Fair Weekend.  Law enforcement personnel will be patrolling the Girdwood Valley. \nVendor Booths:  Fri / Sat: 11am – 8pm\, Sun: 11am – 6pm\nParade: Saturday\, July 6th at 10am \nGirdwood Forest Fair is a 501 (c)(3) Non Profit Organization \nMission Statement: \nGirdwood Forest Fair is dedicated to Alaskan Arts\, Crafts\, Music and food and is committed to a FREE family event for all Alaskans to enjoy that is run solely by volunteers and supported by patrons. \n\nA showcase for the best of Alaska’s original Arts\, Crafts\, Music and Food\nA place where even the smallest of artists could afford the costs of erecting a booth\nWill not be overrun by greed or a venue solely built to bring in the almighty dollar\nAn environmentally conscience event for the benefit of the community\nAn event free of moral conflicts created by dogs\, politics or religious beliefs\n\nFor more to do in the area\, check out the Girdwood Things To Do page. \n

SUMMARY:36th Annual Bear Paw Festival
DESCRIPTION:Located in Eagle River\, the Bear Paw Festival features a parade\, vendor court\, live entertainment\, great food\, shopping and fun for all ages. \nSometimes unexpected but always a good time\, events run the gamut. The Slippery Salmon Olympics are perhaps the best known event. Teams of two race against the clock and each other with a real salmon as the critical item to take along while tackling all the obstacles. \nThe Running of the Bears\, a 300 yard fun run\, races alongside costumed animal mascots from many local businesses and community organizations. Human foosball takes the popular rec room game and replaces the plastic men with real life players. \nOther popular events include the Teddy Bear Picnic\, a classic car show\, parade\, carnival rides\, and the I-Did-A-Duck Race\, a rubber duck regatta.
