Parade line up at Soldotna Prep begins at 9am and the parade itself begins at 11am running from Soldotna Prep School (again\, line up begins here) past SoHi\, turning down Marydale\, turning right on Binkley and continuing past the Borough Building. The parade officially ends at the Binkley/Redoubt roundabout\, then you may disburse in whichever direction is needed. Shady Lane should not be used as a disembarkation point for floats. Soldotna Prep School works well for a disembarkation location. \nThis year’s Progress Days Overall Theme is “Pioneers\, Patriots\, and Progress“\, and it is always a fun community-building event! \nThe Parade is a great opportunity for community exposure and networking for any local business or organization. It’s also free for Chamber Members.

This year\, our focus is on the landscape of American art forms\, composers\,  and artists — past and present. We are thrilled to be celebrating the rich and diverse contributions of Americans across generations and uniquely American art forms like Bluegrass and Old Time music to Jazz and Musical Theater\, Swing dancing\, and more. SUMMARY:Equinox Marathon
DESCRIPTION:The Equinox Marathon is the premier running event in Interior Alaska. With most of the course on trails and a challenging climb up and over Ester Dome—and up and over it again!—it is a challenging marathon that will test your running abilities. But don’t worry if it seems too overwhelming! Our generous 10 hour time cutoff is great for walkers who can keep a steady pace\, and you can do roughly a half of the course by doing the half marathon. \nAs the name suggests\, the race takes place near the Equinox\, in this case the autumnal equinox in the latter part of September. This is the time when we near the end of our beautiful\, green Fairbanks summers\, as the leaves turn yellow and orange and trees begin to lose their leaves. But is (usually) before winter’s snows begin to fall. The entire community comes out to run\, volunteer\, and spectate in this big end of summer party.

SUMMARY:Anchorage RunFest
DESCRIPTION:Anchorage RunFest is a collection of running events that celebrate runners of all abilities from the elite runners to the back of the packers. This late season Boston Marathon qualifier boasts ideal running weather\, mild temperatures and a fast course with very little elevation gain. The out and back route takes runners through downtown Anchorage before heading out along the scenic coastline and through the city’s wooded greenbelt. In keeping with the event’s ‘wild’ reputation\, Anchorage’s thriving urban wildlife is often spotted along the race-course. \nThe popular two-day event\, has grown from a small community race to a true destination event with runners and walkers coming from all over the globe. \nA 2-day health and fitness expo and bib pickup will be held at the Dena’ina Convention Center. \nAnchorage RunFest is the largest event and main fundraiser for the Anchorage Running Club\, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. Funds raised through this event are used in part to provide college scholarships to deserving high school runners\, to high school sports teams and to other athletic events in the community that support its mission to promote a healthy lifestyle through running and exercise. \nAnchorage RunFest is put on by a dedicated all-volunteer race committee. \nRegistration and more information can be found at the website link above.
