Edgerton Highway

The Edgerton Highway, also known as Alaska Route 10, is a 33.5-mile paved road that branches off from the Richardson Highway near Kenny Lake and travels east to the small community of Chitina. Offering scenic views of the Wrangell Mountains and access to the Liberty Falls State Recreation Site, the highway serves as a gateway to outdoor adventures and fishing areas along the Copper River. At Chitina, it connects with the rugged McCarthy Road, which leads deeper into Wrangell–St. Elias National Park and the historic mining town of Kennicott. The Edgerton Highway is open year-round, generally well-maintained, and suitable for passenger vehicles, making it a popular route for travelers seeking a mix of history, nature, and remote Alaska charm.
