Taylor Highway

The Taylor Highway (Alaska Route 5) is a remote, scenic road stretching about 160 miles from Tetlin Junction to the historic town of Eagle near the Yukon River. Open seasonally from April to mid-October, the highway is partly paved but mostly gravel, making it suitable for adventurous travelers equipped for rough conditions. It passes through gold rush-era communities like Chicken and offers access to the Fortymile Wild and Scenic River, BLM campgrounds, and abundant wildlife. The route also connects to the Top of the World Highway leading into Canada, making it a popular choice for summer road trips into the Yukon.
