ABOUT

The Alaska Native Heritage Center (ANHC) is a living cultural center located in Anchorage, Alaska that promotes active observance of Alaska Native culture and traditions, featuring permanent collections and educational programs. Visitors to ANHC can enjoy activities on a campus surrounded by Alaska’s beautiful wilderness, never guessing that such a peaceful place could be located in the state’s largest urban center.

Summer

Visitors in the summer can learn Alaska Native dance, try a Native Gaming event, and observe traditional art being created in front of them.

You can also enjoy taking a walk around Lake Tiulana and exploring our village sites from each cultural region of the state.

School Year

During the school year, ANHC provides outreach to middle schools, and hosts visits from elementary schools.

Year-round

Year-round, the Alaska Native Heritage Center offers Cultural Awareness Workshops (CAW), These workshops provide an interactive way to learning how to work among diverse cultures. Especially useful for business leaders seeking to maximize the productivity and innovation that diversity brings to the office place, CAWs are also beneficial for individuals who are new to Alaska or who are seeking to learn more about Alaska Native people and culture in general.

ANHC also hosts classes so that our youth, Elders and community members can learn traditional Alaska Native art forms, many of which are in danger of being lost.
